VAiFF presents “Great Games” a submission in our Black Voices category. “Great Games” was born in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and is performed by teenagers who, until recently, were living on the streets. Young people who have experienced the city from the ground up: sidewalks, nights outdoors, drugs, and days without promises.Part of the crew also comes from similar backgrounds. For this reason, the film is not just a story being told, but a shared journey: a creative process in which real lives have found space within cinema, giving a voice to those who are rarely heard. The film explores that suspended age in which one is still a child yet already forced to grow up. For those who grow up on the margins of the city, pursuing a dream means confronting poverty, uncertainty, and choices that come far too early every single day.“Grandi Giochi” observes these young people as they search for their place in the world, balancing between the street and the possibility of a future. Voting window opens August 5th, 2025 – August 26th, 2025 (11:59 p.m. EST) only on vaiff.com
